Former Brighton MSP to be razed for unique pharmacy

BRIGHTON TWP. — The former Michigan State Police post in Brighton Township will soon be demolished to make way for a new pharmacy, according to reporting from WHMI.

The former post at Old US-23 and E. Grand River Avenue is 87 years old. Brighton Area Historical Society President Jim Vichich told WHMI the building will be demolished and replaced by People and Pets Pharmacy after receiving approval from the township.

Pharmacy CEO Peter Lyders-Petersen told WHMI it'll be the first location for the company. Lyders-Petersen is a resident of the Brighton area. The business will dispense prescriptions to both people and their pets and will stock over-the-counter items, Brighton Township told the station.

The post was one of the first MSP structures of its design, Vichich told WHMI. He added it'd be wonderful if the building could be saved, but he doesn’t know of any efforts to do so.

The township told WHMI the purchase of the building is still pending.
