Former Baymont hotel in north Champaign changes hands
Apr. 3—CHAMPAIGN — A hotel near Interstate 74 that was previously a Baymont Inn and Suites is now being operated as Express Inn, with plans to re-brand as a Sleep Inn.
"We took over this property March 7," said manager Saumil Amin, adding that they began taking reservations after a week or so.
Express Inn is located at 302 W. Anthony Drive.
According to Amim, the 94-room hotel is only operating as an Express Inn temporarily, and the property is undergoing some minor renovations in order to be converted into a Sleep Inn, which is a Choice Hotels Brand.
"Sleep Inn is a Choice Hotels Brand with over 400 locations worldwide," Choice's website states.
"Each hotel is independently owned and operated by our franchise partners."
