Former Bayern Munich striker and 2014 World Cup winner Miroslav Klose believes that the Bavarians' decision to part ways with coach Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season was too hasty.

"They should be a bit more patient with the coach and give him more time so that the players can understand his ideas," Klose told the ran.de news portal in an interview.

He recalled the situation under former Bayern coach Louis van Gaal, saying that "we, players, didn't understand anything at first until we got the hang of it after three or four months."

With Hansi Flick, Julian Nagelsmann and Tuchel, Bayern have had three coaches in the last three years. "And each of them had their own philosophy and relied on different types of players and their own system. And you have to be careful so the club doesn't lose its DNA, because that's dangerous," World Cup all-time top scorer Klose said.

He added that he would like to see Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso as Tuchel's successor.

"This dominant style of play is exactly what I like and what Bayern actually want. So it would be great if they manage to lure him to Munich," he said.

Alonso has led Leverkusen to an unbeaten season so far. They top the Bundesliga standings, 10 points ahead of second-placed Bayern.
