FORECAST: Expect mostly clear skies Thursday before storms return

Severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m.

FORECAST:

  • Flooding poses a growing risk in specific areas of Charlotte as relentless storms bring heavy rainfall, according to Chief Meteorologist John Ahrens.

  • Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued.

  • Expect strong winds, hail and lightning.

  • These storms will finally ease up and we’ll get a break on Thursday.

  • Enjoy that break because the rain will return on Friday.

  • Ahrens said Charlotte has gotten 6 inches of rain in May, so far with more to come.
