Ford GT Assistant Chief Engineer Kip Ewing Has Resigned

From Road & Track

Kip Ewing, the assistant chief engineer on the 2017 Ford GT project, announced today that he has resigned from Ford. A spokesperson confirmed the resignation to Road & Track.

As first reported by Jalopnik, Ewing announced his resignation on his personal Facebook page. He joined Ford Motor Company in 1994, where he worked at Lincoln and led early packaging work for the S197-generation Mustang before being chosen to lead the 2005 Ford GT project, as he told Car and Driverlast year. After that project was complete, Ewing moved to body engineering for SVT, where he worked on body and packaging engineering for the Mustang Shelby GT500.

Ewing also designed the Ford GTX1 roadster, an open-topped version of the 2005 GT that was turned into an aftermarket conversion. Active in the automotive aftermarket, Ewing's west-Detroit company makes carbon-fiber GTX1 conversion parts for the Ford GT, as well as body styling accessories for Lamborghinis and Aston Martins.

Most recently, Ewing had departed from the current Ford GT project to join the business side of Ford Performance, a position he took roughly one year ago.

We have reached out to Ewing for comment, and will update this post if we receive a reply.
