Food processing company plans to expand western Ga. plant, add 750 new jobs

HAMILTON, Ga. (AP) -- A food processing and distribution company is planning to expand a plant in western Georgia and looks to create 750 new jobs.

Gov. Nathan Deal Thursday announced Koch Foods is planning to expand its plant in Hamilton — about 25 miles northeast of Columbus.

The creation of 750 new jobs is expected to raise the plant's work force to a total of about 1,400.

Officials say the Illinois-based company is expected to spend about $49 million to expand its Harris County plant. It is unclear when the company plans to expand the facility.
