How The Food Mill works to eliminate food insecurity

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL)— In an effort to eliminate food insecurity in the Columbus community, The Food Mill hosted a Pantry Giveaway.

The Food Mill began its pantry as a response to the pandemic with a mission to provide food to residents and families in the North Highland Community. By breaking the barriers to attain healthy food routinely and affordably, The Food Mill has been successful in servicing the community with help from its partners ‘True Spring’ and ‘Feeding the Valley Food Bank.’

The Pantry Giveaway occurs every second and fourth Monday of the month at the Fox Community Center from 2:30p.m.- 6:00p.m. or until supplies run out. The giveaways consist of volunteers creating bags and boxes with a variety of shelf stable items and fresh produce to the North Highland Community and the greater Columbus areas.

Anna Sims, the director of communication with the Food Mill told WRBL,” The Food Mill is really here to come alongside the families and residents of this community that may need a little extra help getting access to healthier food and live the lives they want with access to good food.”
