Food City donates to Legends of Tennessee reading program

BLUFF CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Food City donated $8,000 to the Legends of Tennessee organization on Friday.

The donation will go towards the organization’s reading program.

Food City presented the check at Bluff City Elementary School. After the presentation, former Vols running back Jabari Davis and current Vols offensive lineman Dayne Davis visited students at the school for a group reading session.

“It’s a blessing,” Jabari Davis said. “Any time you can give back and help kids get better with education and travel and promote reading and literacy and helping kids get the spark of interest about reading and taking that reading to another level is always a lot of fun.”

Dayne Davis, a Bluff City native, said he enjoyed visiting with youth in his hometown.

Legends of Tennessee engages former and current University of Tennessee athletes in various communities, providing football camps, educational programs, mental health summits and leadership training.
