New food and beverage options coming to South Charlotte’s Rea Farms development

New places to eat and drink are popping up at Rea Farms this year, giving shoppers and South Charlotte foodies the chance to sip on a dragon fruit tea or slurp up steaming broth and noodles.

Here’s a look at what’s happening:

Milk Cha-Cha now open

Milk Cha-Cha, a locally owned boba tea shop chain that’s growing, has opened up in a 975 square feet shop next to Flour Power Cooking Studios at Rea Farms. A South End location recently opened, too.

The tea shop founded in 2020 by “two boba-addict friends” — Louis Zhan and Gary Ghao — is now up to four Charlotte-area locations and is moving into franchising. It serves up premium loose-leaf teas mixed with fresh fruit, dairy, boba and jellies.

On the menu, you’ll find drinks such as Chucky Kiwi Tea, Fresh Strawberry Mango Yakult (a yogurt drink), Matcha Slush, Hong Kong Milk Tea and a Black Sesame Latte.

Space Hot Pot opening soon

Just down the block, across from Harris Teeter, Space Hot Pot will be opening later this year in a 3,443 square-foot space.

Hot pot restaurants are gaining ground in Charlotte, with the recent openings of Yiding Hot Pot in Pineville and KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot locations opening in Pineville and Matthews.

Like at other hot pot restaurants, diners at Space Hot Pot will be served a simmering pot of broth. You pick from a selection of vegetables, seafood, meat and noodles, then cook the meal yourself tableside. Rice will also be available, along with sauces and toppings to customize the meal.

The new restaurants add to recent changes at Rea Farms, which includes the opening of Charlotte’s second Little Mama’s location.
