Food Bank of the Rockies partners with Walmart and Sam’s Club

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — In Colorado, one in 11 people face food insecurity.

Attendance at Food Bank of the Rockies’ mobile pantries has increased by 190% compared to one year ago.

Walmart and Sam’s Club are teaming up with this food bank to help answer the call by turning surplus food into meals for those in need.

Food donations from retail partners are either trucked to Food Bank of the Rockies’ distribution center or picked up by a Food Rescue Program driver. Local food pantries and relief organizations that partner with Food Bank of the Rockies can also pick up surplus food directly from retail locations.

Walmart and Sam’s Club are giving shoppers in Colorado an opportunity to send support to their neighbors experiencing food insecurity through the Fight Hunger Spark Change campaign, running through April 29.

You can contribute to this program by donating at checkout in Walmart or Sam’s Club or by rounding up using the Walmart website or app. You can also purchase select in-store or online products from the Walmart or Sam’s Club websites. You can donate directly at FeedingAmerica’s website here.
