Fong: Hold those behind 'chaos' on college campuses accountable

Assemblyman Vince Fong, a UCLA graduate and vice chairman of the Assembly Budget Committee, said in a statement Thursday that those behind campus "chaos" must be held accountable.

“The violence at UCLA should have never been allowed to happen, and the fact that the campus was taken over by anti-Semitic agitators that created a lawless environment is unacceptable," he wrote. “This vicious anti-Semitic rhetoric cannot be tolerated. Students of Jewish faith have been harassed and assaulted. As a UCLA alum, I am appalled.

He wrote that students, especially Jewish students, need to feel safe, and that the "lawless environment" points to institutional failures.

“Those who espouse anti-Semitic violence must be held accountable, face discipline and, if necessary, be expelled and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
