Fone Rescue review

Fone Rescue recovers accidentally deleted images, texts, notes, and call logs through an intuitive and streamlined interface. In addition to on-device recovery, this premium product also offers iTunes and iCloud backup scanning.

Pros

Three data sources: Fone Rescue can access the data on the iPhone itself (it took approximately ten minutes to scan our iPhone), as well as read iTunes and iCloud backups. iCloud backups will be automatically downloaded in order to be scanned.

Multiple data types supported: With the app you can view accidentally deleted photos, videos, contacts, messages, call logs, notes, and a couple of other types of information. Data recovery, however, is only available in the full version of the app.

Cons

No prompt for untrusted computers: If your Apple device doesn't already trust the PC it's connected to, the scanning process will just stall, and you will not be notified that you need to take action. A basic pop-up informing you of the situation would go a long way.

Poorly designed progress bar: While the software is scanning your phone, you'll see a progress bar. The issue is that in the beginning of the scan the bar gets stuck on approximately 20 percent and stays there for about five minutes, giving the illusion that something has gone wrong.

Bottom Line

Have you ever tapped the Delete button by mistake and then realized that you would need to restore your device from backup to recover the lost data? Fone Rescue offers a very good alternative to that tedious process, recovering data in a quick and efficient manner.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Fone Rescue 4.5.
