(FOX40.COM) — The City of Folsom could be receiving close to a half-a-million dollars in state funding for a second sculpture along the nearly three mile Jonny Cash Trail.

During the Folsom City Council meeting on Tuesday, the council approved a resolution to apply for $425,000 in Specific Grant Funds as part of the 2023 California State Budget.

The funding would go towards landscape architecture, engineering, and fabrication of art for Cash’s Pick No. 2 on the Johnny Cash Trail.

In March 2023, the city sent a request to Assemblymember Josh Hoover (Folsom) for him to request funding for the project on behalf of Folsom.

With the approval of the 2023-2024 state budget that is set to being in July, the City of Folsom is now waiting for further direction on how to proceed with acquiring the funding.

Cash’s Pick Projects

The City of Folsom has already secured funding for Cash’s Pick No. 1 at one end of the trail and are waiting for construction to begin.

The identical sculptures will be made of bronze and stand at seven-feet-tall along each ends of the trail.

RRM Design Group is carrying out the landscaping and engineering for the projects and Romo Studios, LLC and Adan Romo are responsible for art fabrication.

Estimated construction time for Cash’s Pick No.2 once funding is secured is between 10 months to one year.
