Folsom High School student sues district after he was injured while wearing bubble suit

A Folsom High School student sued the school district after he was partially blinded while playing with inflatable bubble body suits.

The student was participating in a school event involving the suits provided to students by the district, according to the lawsuit filed Feb. 13 in Sacramento Superior Court.

The lawsuit alleged the district did not provide students with instructions or warnings regarding the bubble suits. Three students wearing bubble suits collided with the one student, who was also wearing a bubble suit, the lawsuit alleges.

The student suffered from a brain injury, facial fractures, and the loss of vision in his left eye, the lawsuit alleges.

“(The student) relied on a safe environment at a school event occurring on school premises and operated the bubble suit with the assumption that it was safe to operate when, in fact, it was not,” the lawsuit states.

Folsom Cordova Unified School District has yet to be served with the lawsuit, district spokeswoman Angela Griffin Ankhelyi said on Wednesday.
