Flying pterosaur was the size of a plane - and ate other dinosaurs
A gigantic pterosaur with a wing span of up to 36 feet – as large as a small aircraft – once swooped over Mongolia’s Gobi Desert, eating other dinosaurs.
The fossil hints at a creature which rivals the largest winged reptiles found in Europe and North America, the researchers say.
The creature is thought to have lived 70 million years ago in the late Cretaceous and may have eaten the babies of other dinosaurs, National Geographic reports.

The dinosaur could walk well on the ground and probably attacked its prey on foot, the researchers report in Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology.
Takanobu Tsuihiji of the University of Tokyo said, ‘I immediately recognized that it might be a pterosaur and was astonished at its gigantic size.
‘Straight away, we went back to the site and discovered the rest of the specimen.’
