Flower business swells as Valentine’s Day brings public displays of affection in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — As Valentine’s Day takes its hold in Las Vegas, many in the area are prepared to accommodate couples who are ready to embrace the holiday and each other perhaps.

With all the love in the air, UPS has announced the addition of 40 flights to handle all of the extra Valentine’s Day flower orders. The company said there’s a surge of nearly 5 million pounds of flowers around the holiday.

Closer to home, local florists say they are hard at work preparing special gifts for loved ones across the valley. Officials from Eileen Entertainment, a local floral shop, said they had purchased 2,000 roses for Valentine’s Day bouquets. The shop is preparing nearly 100 delivery orders and 150 pick-up orders on Valentine’s Day alone.

“We have about 300 preorders right now,” said Eileen Entertainment owner Savannah Eileen. “We do have a couple of hundred orders for walk-ins, but we’ve been hard at work.”

Eileen, who said she had been awake for approximately 24 hours leading up to the big Valentine’s Day influx of business, added that the process was a labor of love. For the ill-prepared or those with last-minute affection to show, Eileen Entertainment will have florals already packaged and ready for pick up at their shop located at 5695 E Charleston Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89142.
