Florida Woman Held Captive Rescued After Handing Note to Vet: 'Call the Cops'
A Florida woman was rescued Friday after she slipped a note to a veterinarian saying she needed help because her armed boyfriend was threatening her, police said.
The 28-year-old woman’s boyfriend, 39-year-old Jeremy Floyd, allegedly beat and threatened the woman, whom InsideEdition.com has chosen not to name, at gunpoint and held her captive for two days, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.
The woman allegedly convinced Floyd to let her take her dog to DeLand Animal Hospital. She had plans to escape. Floyd allegedly insisted on going with her, Fox News reported.
The woman, who feared for her life, was able to slip a note to a vet that read: "Call the cops. My boyfriend is threatening me. He has a gun. Please don't let him know."
The vet then called police who responded and arrested Floyd. Authorities also recovered a handgun.
The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries, which included a head wound, a black eye and bruises, according to the sheriff's office.
Authorities also discovered two bullet holes inside the couple’s home.
Floyd was charged with domestic violence, aggravated assault with a firearm, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, among other charges.
He is being held without bail.
