Florida man threatened Cowboys employees because team didn't sign him
One man wasn’t happy with the picks Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys made in the NFL draft last month — in particular because the team didn’t sign him.
Police were called to the Florida home of 26-year-old Keyon Reed on Thursday after he threatened Cowboys employees because they didn’t sign him, according to the Dallas Morning News. Police and a SWAT team went to Reed’s home in Melbourne, Fla., for a welfare check Thursday afternoon after a Cowboys employee reported his calls.
A police report said “he was making threats to harm people if the Cowboys didn’t sign him.” Reed wasn’t at home when police arrived, but was soon brought back home by relatives.
He admitted to calling Cowboys employees because he was “frustrated they wouldn’t ‘show him the real money’ and sign him to a contract.”
“He stated they told him they could not do anything for him so he told them he was going to ‘[expletive] their wife,'” police wrote in an incident report, according to Florida Today.
No charges were filed.
Reed, a former defensive end, last played football in 2012 for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He has twice had issues with the law. In 2011, Reed was arrested and charged with simple domestic violence assault after he reportedly pushed his ex-girlfriend onto a bed and head-butted her. He was also arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct after a confrontation with police in 2013. Per the Dallas Morning News, both of those cases were dismissed.
