Florida man dies in car wreck

Dec. 7—A 47-year-old Florida man was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Midland County Tuesday.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Rigoberto Eduardo Fernandez, of Tampa, was traveling north on CR 1050 in a Freightliner truck with trailer when he failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign at FM 307 and collided with a Kenworth truck with trailer being driven by a 46-year-old man from Coahoma.

Fernandez, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened around 8:40 a.m.. The other driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital in stable condition, according to DPS.
