Florida House passes craft distillers bill

Bill to allow craft distillers to sell booze on site is passed by Florida House

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- The Florida House has passed a bill allowing on-site sales of liquor at the state's craft liquor distilleries.

The bill (HB 347) passed Wednesday by a vote of 111-4. It would allow a distillery to sell two bottles per customer per year. The liquor has to be consumed off-premises.

A distillery cannot produce more than 75,000 gallons to remain eligible for retail sales.

Liquor distributors and retailers had opposed the bill until the bottle limit was changed to two from 24. Florida wineries and craft brewers are already able to sell their products on-site for customers to take home.

A related bill is in the Senate.
