Florida father stabbed to death trying to protect his son
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida man died after trying to protect his son from getting stabbed at a sports bar, according to NBC affiliate WESH.
The station reported that Amado Benetiz and his 23-year-old son, Evlin Luque, were leaving the El Catrin Sports Bar and Nightclub around 2:30 a.m. on Mar. 4 when Evlin was approached by four strangers.

The strangers reportedly stabbed Evlin with a knife. Benetiz was stabbed to death while trying to protect his son, per WESH.
Merlyn Discua, Benetiz’s wife, told WESH that her son is fighting for his life in the hospital but is expected to survive.
Benetiz was the father of six biological children and three stepchildren.
WESH reported that the Collier County Sheriff’s Office has put a warrant out for the arrest of Vicente Ramirez, a convicted felon from California, in connection to the murder.
