Florence Fire Rescue fights house fire on Thompson Street

FLORENCE, Ala (WHNT) — Florence Fire Rescue (FFR) said two fire stations responded to a house fire Tuesday afternoon.

FFR said crews from Fire Stations 1 and 4 responded to a house fire just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Thompson Street.

The department said Engine 4 arrived to find heavy fire and smoke showing from the front and the roof of the one-story home. Authorities said crews from Station 1 arrived behind them and began fighting the fire while securing a water supply.

According to FFR, primary and secondary searches were conducted, but no one was found inside the structure.

The department said the fire was brought under control in just under 20 minutes and no firefighters were injured during the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
