Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge has opened up about why a third season will not be happening… at least anytime soon.

The star recently wrapped up the show's second season and has said before that this is the end of the line, though she is open to bringing it back in the future.

Waller-Bridge has now explained why we may see Fleabag again when she is heading towards middle age.

"I feel like it's done, but I do have a fantasy of bringing her back when I'm, like, 45 or 50," she told The Hollywood Reporter.

"She went on the biggest journey over the past two seasons, and she started as someone who sort of hated herself and ended up as someone believing that she could love again and forgive herself. I have to respect that arc and let her go and live for a bit."

Speaking previously, the star predicted that people will move on from the show, saying: "People get over shit. If something doesn't go well, you'll get over it, everyone will get over it. And if something goes brilliantly, we'll all get over that, too.

"We need things to end to remind us that we are still alive."

Fleabag seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch as a box-set on BBC iPlayer.
