‘The Flash’: This Series Regular Won’t Appear In Season 3 Premiere

“The Flash” fans won’t see at least one series regular in the Season 3 premiere of the CW series.

According to TVLine, Tom Cavanagh won’t be appearing in the upcoming installment’s debut episode, titled “Flashpoint.” The news outlet reported that there is no sign of or even reference to any of Cavanagh’s characters the first hour of Season 3.

The 52-year-old Canadian actor has played three different characters on “The Flash” — Eobard Thawne also known as the Reverse-Flash, Earth-1 Harrison Wells and Earth-2 Harrison Wells. Although it was revealed that the Reverse-Flash appears in the premiere, this version of the villainous speedster is played by Matt Letscher.

Even though Cavanagh won’t show up in the season premiere, the “Ed” alum remains a series regular. In fact, he was part of the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel last July, and has been actively sharing photos and videos from the set of the series since production on the new season started earlier this year. See his tweets and Instagram posts here and here.

Cavanagh spent majority of his time playing the role of Earth-2 Harrison Wells, also known as Harry, in Season 2. At the end of the installment, Harry, together with his daughter Jesse (Violett Beane), returned to Earth-2. Their trip back home, however, doesn’t necessarily mean that viewers will never see them again. As fans know, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) can open breaches, so characters can travel back and forth between Earth-1 and Earth-2 whenever they wish.

“The Flash” Season 3, episode 1, titled “Flashpoint,” airs on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 8 p.m. on The CW. Check out the synopsis for the episode below:

“Barry is living his dream life – his parents are alive, he’s asked Iris West (Candice Patton) on a date and he can finally be a normal guy as Central City has another speedster, Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale), running around saving the city. When Barry starts forgetting parts of his old life, the Reverse-Flash (Letscher) taunts his nemesis and tells him that there will be serious repercussions for Barry and the ones he loves if he continues to live in this alternate universe. In addition to losing his memories, his powers will also start to fade. When disaster strikes, Barry must decide if he wants to continue to live in this world as Barry Allen or return to his universe as The Flash.”
