Flash Flood Warning issued for parts of San Diego County

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/ KUSI) — The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for parts of San Diego County Saturday morning.

San Diego, Chula Vista, National City, Escondido, Poway and other areas are under the warning until 11:30 a.m. The weather service said radar shows these areas could receive between 0.5 to 0.8 inches of rainfall in about one hour.

Widespread rain, thunderstorms, snow forecast for San Diego County

“A flash flood is a sudden violent flood that can take from minutes to hours to develop,” the weather service explained.

It’s suggested that if you are in a flood prone area, move immediately to higher ground. The weather service also suggested avoiding walking and driving through flood waters.
