Each ceremony will take place in the hospitals before going outside for the flag raising ceremonies.

ARH Regional Community & Development Manager, Kelly Elkins has emphasized that these events are to celebrate those who have donated and given the gift of life and encourages the public to be more educated and informed about this topic.

“We hope people join us as we honor recipients and also thank those who have generously and selflessly donated so that someone else may live. Ultimately, we hope to encourage others to do the same,” said ARH Regional Community & Development Manager, Kelly Elkins.

More than 100,000 people in the United States are awaiting an organ transplant. 500 of those are from West Virginia, according to statistics from CORE.
