Fla. House passes workers' comp bill

Florida House gives final approval to bill aimed at lowering workers' compensation costs

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- The Florida House has given final approval to a bill touted as a way to lower workers' compensation insurance costs.

The measure (SB 662) revises the amount of reimbursement for certain prescription drugs used by injured workers. The legislation passed the House on a 115-0 vote Wednesday and now heads to Gov. Rick Scott for his consideration.

The bill cleared the Senate on a 39-0 vote earlier this week.

A staff analysis estimates that the bill would lower workers' compensation costs by about $20 million.

One of the bill's key provisions would cap the reimbursement rate for repackaged or relabeled drugs.
