A new public opinion poll of the prospective U.S. Senate battle in Florida between GOP incumbent Rick Scott and Democratic challenger Debbie Mucarsel-Powell shows Scott up, 45%-38%, with 17% undecided.

That’s according to a survey of 1,000 registered Florida voters conducted this week by Emerson College Polling.

There hasn’t been much polling in Florida’s U.S. Senate race, so this survey gives one indication of where the situation may stand between the two candidates, both of whom still need to win their respective primary races in August.

Scott is running for a second six-year term to the U.S. Senate, where he narrowly defeated Democratic incumbent Bill Nelson in 2018.

Murcarsel-Powell isn’t nearly as well known. She served one term in Congress (2019-2021) representing Florida’s 26thCongressional District in South Florida.

The survey also shows Donald Trump leading Joe Biden in Florida by 11 percentage points, 51%-38%, with 11% undecided.

It also shows Biden with just a 36% job approval rating among Florida voters, with 54% disapproving.

Gov. Ron DeSantis has a 47% job approval among Florida voters in the survey, with 42% disapproving.

The survey also includes polling on Amendment 4, the abortion-rights measure that will be on the ballot in November. The Florida Supreme Court ruled on that issue on April 1.

While some previous surveys have shown the measure getting above the 60% threshold required, the Emerson College poll finds the measure getting 42% of people saying that they will vote yes on the proposal, with 25% saying they will vote no and 32% saying they are unsure how they will vote.

The survey was conducted on April 9-10. It has a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.
