Five things to know about the death of Mica Miller, the wife of a Myrtle Beach, SC pastor

As the death of Mica Miller continues to make headlines on local and national news, here are five things to know about her death.

Her husband and family are at odds

Around 12 days before her death, Mica Miller had filed for separation from her husband John-Paul Miller, who is a pastor at Solid Rock Church at Market Common. Her siblings, Sierra Francis and Nathaniel Francis, filed estate affidavits stating Sierra Francis should serve as the special administrator for Mica Miller’s estate. This was granted.

In the affidavit, Sierra Francis stated, “Mica stated to me on many occasions, ‘If I end up with a bullet in my head, it was JP,’” referring to John-Paul Miller. Sierra Francis also said Mica Miller was afraid she would be killed and not make it to the end of her divorce.

On May 5, two memorials were held: one at Solid Rock Church attended by John-Paul Miller and another in North Myrtle Beach organized by her family.

She told police in March she was afraid for her life

Police reports show that on March 11, Mica Miller’s tires were slashed when she was at the Springmaid Pier around 1:30 a.m. She reported this to police.

Later that morning, around 11:30 a.m., she called police again about harassment, saying a man whom she has been avoiding came up to her at a gas station and tried to speak with her. He had also been calling and texting her despite the fact Mica Miller had blocked his number. She then told police she feared for her life.

Mica Miller said she had tried to get a restraining order against the suspect, who was not named in the police reports. A mechanic also found a GPS tracker within her car. Nathaniel Francis wrote in an affidavit that Mica Miller forwarded him an email from John-Paul Miller saying he was sorry for the tires and damaging her vehicle.

The email also read, “When someone hurts me, I try to hurt them back rather than forgive.” and “Instead of me forgiving you . . . . I just attack and try to cause pain,” according to Nathaniel Francis’s affidavit.
