Not everything turns out the way it is expected to be. That’s clear and evident in today’s NFL. Some players and teams are providing quite the surprise for the rest of the NFL community, good and bad. Ryan Fitzpatrick for example, is performing at a far lower level than expected. Whether it’s all his fault or not, he has already lost his starting job seven weeks into the season. But we’ll get to that later. For now, What else is going on in the NFL?

1. Vikings to stay undefeated?

When the Vikings travel to Philadelphia on Sunday, it will be their first game in two weeks. The NFL’s only remaining unbeaten team is looking to improve their record to 6-0. Sam Bradford will return to battle the team he had just been apart of only a couple months ago. So, will Minnesota stay undefeated? Yes. Expect the Vikings to come out with excitement after their long bye. They are hopeful to regain strength on the offensive side of the ball with Stefon Diggs and Brandon Fusco possibly returning from injury. Look for Minnesota to play complementary football and grab another victory on the road.

2. Are the Redskins for real?

After starting out 0-2, Washington has earned four straight victories. They look to be in prime position to compete for a wild card spot or perhaps even their division. As it stand right now, they are one game behind their division foe, Dallas Cowboys. They have already lost their first matchup in the series and it won’t get any easier when they travel to Dallas in an attempt to even things up. Only time will tell if they are a real playoff contender. They have a tough schedule up ahead.

3. Will Geno Smith to start; expectations?

The New York Jets’ struggles in 2016 have been well noted. It comes as very surprising after a 10-6 effort a year ago. Ryan Fitzpatrick has seemed to lose his steam. His greatest issue has been turning over the ball in key situations. That’s why head coach Todd Bowles made the call to slot Smith as the new starting quarterback. Smith will likely play better than most expect. He’s not a youngster anymore, as far as the NFL experience goes. He’s had time to humble himself and a backup role and looks ready to take the opportunity. The Jets may not earn a whole lot of victories, but they have to see what Geno has in a contract year.

4. Doug Martin to return for Tampa Bay?

Bad news. At least for Buccaneer fans. Tampa Bay’s star running back has suffered a setback in his injured hamstring according to coach Dirk Koetter. As of right now, Martin is out indefinitely. What seemed to be a much needed confidence boost for the Bucs is now turning out to be a nightmare.

5. Greg Olsen having a career year?

Fantasy owners are salivating over their asset of Greg Olsen. His volume of receptions and yardage is unheard of at the tight end position in the NFL. He is second only to Julio Jones in receiving yardage through week six. Right now, he is Cam Newton’s best weapon and it doesn’t look like that will change anytime soon. Olsen has been a bright spot in an otherwise year of demise for the Carolina Panthers.

Wrap up

Chaos has been the theme for 2016. The playoff picture is wide open for each conference (besides a few stellar standouts). Keep coming back each week to catch the hottest news and speculation floating around the NFL.
