Five arrested in anti-human trafficking operation near Danville

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Five men are accused of solicitation and sexual abuse following an Illinois State Police anti-human trafficking operation in the Danville area.

State Police officials said that starting Feb. 28, the Division of Criminal Investigation’s Trafficking Enforcment Bureau conducted a two-day operation focused on people seeking to engage in commercial sex acts. As a result, they arrested the following five people:

  • Salem Khan, 37 of Cheektowga, N.Y.

  • Brett Wright, 42 of Danville, Ill.

  • Eric Schmidt, 46 of Lisle, Ill.

  • Andrew Cravens, 44 of Danville, Ill.

  • Bradley Wagoner, 46 of Westville, Ill.

All five are charged with indecent solicitation/aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child (a Class 3 felony), traveling to meet a child (a Class 3 felony) and solicitation to meet a child (a Class 4 felony). Wagoner is also charged with possession of less than five grams of meth (a Class 3 felony).

The Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group, East Central Illinois Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations also took part in the operation. The Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office provided support.
