The First Pics of Chip and Joanna Gaines' Adorable Newborn Son Are Here
Back in January, former Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines announced on Instagram that they were expecting their fifth child. “Gaines party of seven. (If you’re still confused.. WE ARE PREGNANT),” Chip captioned the post. The news came just months after the couple shared that season five of their hit HGTV show would be their last.
“When we found out, it solidified that it was the right decision to leave when we did,” Joanna told People.
On Saturday, June 23, Chip announced the baby's arrival to his followers on Twitter: “And then there were 5..," he wrote. "The Gaines crew is now 1 stronger! 10 beautiful toes and 10 beautiful fingers all accounted for, and big momma is doing great! #blessedBeyondBelief.” We weren't treated to a name or a first look at the little one then, but on Saturday night, the family posted the newborn's first pics—and shared his name.
Joanna shared an adorable first look of the newborn baby and revealed his unique name on her Instagram in a slideshow-style post.
“Our baby boy, Crew Gaines, is here and we couldn’t be more in love,” the Magnolia Home designer wrote. “He made an unexpected (and speedy) entrance into the world two and a half weeks early - which is fitting given he was a sweet surprise from day one. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. We are so grateful."
In the first photo, Joanna looks lovingly at Crew, who is asleep in a hunter green swaddle. Click through and you'll see photos of Chip, clad in a backwards hat and polo, sweetly embracing his wife of 15 years and Crew’s older siblings Emmie Kay, 8; Duke, 9; Ella, 11; and Drake, 13, huddled around the hospital bed in excitement as they meet him for the first time.
Super-fans have since noticed that Chip sneakily slipped Crew's name right under our noses before it was officially announced when he wrote on Saturday that “The Gaines crew is now 1 stronger.” Tricky, tricky.
Crew's name breaks tradition with the rest of his siblings, who have names that start only with the letter E and D. Back in April, the Waco, Texas-based couple told the Today Show they couldn’t agree on a name. “I want a C name, he wants a D name,” Joanna said, who was on the show promoting her latest Magnolia Table recipes. “I say he got the boy, so I get to pick the name.”
Chip chimed in and said, “I’m hoping for a D, she’s wanting to change the pace.”
