Entertainment Weekly has shared the first picture from the reboot of the George Miller franchise.
Two years after the end of filming and 29 years after the last "Mad Max: Beyond the Thunderdome" was released, the first image from "Mad Max: Fury Road" gives an idea of its tone.
The dark quality of the previous films seems to be found in the reboot, with it post-apocalyptic landscapes, heavy weapons, blood and sweat.
The film looks like it will be heavy on action scenes, as seen in other pictures posted by EW.
Tom Hardy ("The Dark Knight Rises") takes over the part of ex-cop Max (originally played by Mel Gibson in the 1980s) alongside Charlize Theron, with both sporting a shaved head and dusty faces. Nicholas Hoult and Zoë Kravitz, recently seen in "X-Men: Days of the Future Past," are also part of the cast.
The film will open on May 13, 2015.
