Former Ravens RB Ray Rice is busy these days.

He recently announced that he would donate his entire salary to a Domestic Abuse charity, if signed by an NFL team.

He spoke to the players at the University of Georgia on Monday.

Earlier this Summer, he spoke to the rookies at the Baltimore Ravens’ rookie camp.

Wednesday, he called in to the Mike Lupica podcast and spoke about many relevant matters. It’s a good listen for anyone considering themselves to be a part of Ravens Nation, and the link is below.

A particularly good excerpt was when he talked about Ozzie Newsome, after having been asked if he was in touch with any NFL executives: “…One executive that I would talk to, and honestly, thank him for what he’s done for me, [is]Ozzie Newsome. As much as Ozzie Newsome is a general manager–and I get very emotional when I think about this–he was like a father figure to me when I was there. I was Ozzie’s guy. Nothing to do with football is what I’m talking about. Ozzie Newsome to me defines opportunity for me…you look at his career and what he had to overcome to be a general manager and the way he cares about his players. Honestly it brings,…it’s a very emotional deal for me because I genuinely love the man and he loves me too. In those conversations I never felt like, I [had to] call Ozzie Newsome … to plead my case–that’s not the relationship I want to have with Ozzie. I want Ozzie to look at [me] as a son and embrace me. And whether I play for Baltimore or not: Me, Ozzie Newsome, John Harbaugh, Steve Bisciotti; everybody in that organization we’ve had a lot of great times together. But my goal is now to always embrace the good times. We learn from the bad times. And that’s why I was able to go back there this year, and I thank them wholeheartedly, to talk to their rookies. I’m still part of Baltimore no matter what. History is going to speak. I have a Super Bowl there, no one is going to take [that] away from me. I’m always going to be a part of that community for the rest of my life whether I’m living in Connecticut or back and forth to visit. That is still home. That place embraced me like no other place has. The fans have embraced me. But [Ozzie’s] the only exec that really genuinely would send a text or call just to say, how you doing. The only time we talk football is on the field. Right now, its really where “you pick up where you left up” and that’s what I have with Ozzie.”

Clearly, there is still a very strong bond between Rice and the Ravens.
