LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — First lady Jill Biden is scheduled to appear in Las Vegas on Saturday at a campaign event in an effort to mobilize women for this year’s election.

She is scheduled to arrive at Harry Reid International Airport at 11:30 a.m., and she will deliver remarks at an event at 2:30 p.m. The location has not been disclosed, but 8 News Now will update this story when information is available.

An announcement from President Joe Biden’s campaign indicates the first lady is touring battleground states in launching Women for Biden-Harris. She is expected to meet with women to discuss what’s at stake this election and “the pivotal role they will play in reelecting President Biden and Vice President (Kamala) Harris.”

Democrats are putting a focus on abortion rights and reproductive freedom in this year’s election after Roe v. Wade was overturned in June of 2022.

High winds are expected in Las Vegas on Saturday, which could have an impact on arrangements.

President Biden was in Las Vegas on Feb. 5 ahead of the Democratic presidential primary election, which he won easily. Former President Donald Trump, who dominated in a Republican caucus win, leads Biden in Nevada with 46% of the vote compared to Biden’s 40% in an Emerson College/The Hill/8 News Now poll released Feb. 22.
