First flight of Bombardier CSeries jet delayed

Bombardier says first flight of CSeries jet delayed by a month to end of July

MONTREAL (AP) -- The first flight of Bombardier's new CSeries jet has been delayed by a month.

The Montreal-based company said Wednesday the inaugural flight of its new flagship passenger jet is now scheduled by the end of July.

It's not the first delay for the much-anticipated CSeries jet, which is expected to compete with some of the smaller planes made by Boeing and Airbus.

Bombardier, the world's third-largest maker of civil commercial aircraft, had rescheduled the first flight after falling behind its original plans late last year. The100-140 seat CSeries is critical to Bombardier Aerospace, which has spent years designing the advanced-technology jet.

It had been expected to perform the test flight by the end of June but the company has refused repeated requests for a more specific timetable.
