First “Everything Entertaining Expo” coming to Arnot Mall

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) – The first “Everything Entertaining Expo” is coming to the Arnot Mall on Sunday March 24th, from noon to 4 p.m. The free event will feature a lineup of live local bands playing inside “The Squatch Den Records” store. Nearly 30 artists, creators and professional comic book writers are also set to attend.

“We’re going to put the bands in here and have a punk rock show in the mall,” said Ash Cullen, the co-owner of the “Squatch Den.” Cullen says the live show will include “Second Suiter” from Binghamton, “Endless Holiday” from the Corning area, and “The Jeremy Edge Project.

“Jeremy Edge, he was the guitarist in “Candlelight Red,” back 10, 15 years ago, which actually was a national band, and Backstreet Law,” said Cullen. “This is his new project, and it’s more like blues rock. He is going to be headlining it and he’s set to be on at 3pm that day.”

“Second Suitor,” they are a local band out of Binghamton and they’re pop punk. They are fronted by Tyler Reed, who’s also involved with the Xcite Wrestling locally. So, he’s a huge local talent, pop punk, really fun band that everyone can get into,” Cullen said.

“Endless Holiday, they are a bunch of local guys as well, I believe they’re out of the Corning area. Really fun. They also do “punkysmixtape” which is a pretty big thing on Twitch.”

“That’s something to see alone. Live bands at the mall, for free, and they’re awesome bands,” Cullen added.

The Expo is being co-hosted by Jared Aiosa, the owner of “Heroes Comic Shop” in Elmira Heights.

“There are a lot of entrances to the mall, we have been telling people it’s the Mooney’s, Ruby Tuesday entrance, that’s entrance number one.”

Book signings by professional comic book writers will include David Ebeltoft. He is the author of the newly-released comic book “The Cabinet.” Ebeltoft is also an award-winning screenwriter. His latest screenplay, Blood for Dust, hits theaters April 19th.

“The expo is celebration of DIY, it’s a celebration of the spirit of creativity,” said Aiosa. “Whatever you’re into. If you like tabletop games, we have Matt Faulisi, and we’re excited to have him. He’s an employee of Skybound tabletop games. He helps create tabletop games. So, we have all these authors and artists that make their own comics. We have bands that write their own songs, you know, write their own guitar riffs,” Aiosa added.

“We’ve got Ethan Young, published by DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Steve Ellis, also published by DC Comics. That’s what this expo is all about. Come be entertained, listen to some live music, meet creators of all different types. Those that are at the top, you’re working for Marvel, that’s great, and those that are just writing a black and white zine like Eggroll here.”

“We’re really excited to just keep bringing people into the mall, and growing it back to what it once was,” said Cullen. Don’t let the mall go. It’s not dead. We’re here.”

The mall entrance closes to the event is “Entrance 1” between Mooney’s and Ruby Tuesday. The expo will run from noon to 4 p.m. For the latest updates, you can follow the event’s Facebook page here.
