First Day guided hikes being offered on New Year's Day

KEENE, N.H. - To ring in the new year, New Hampshire is holding free, guided hikes at Monadnock State Park and Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion Historic Site on New Year's Day.

The hikes are sponsored by the state Division of Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests and Eastern Mountain Sports.

The hikes are being offered as part of America's State Parks First Day Hikes taking place in all 50 states.

Nearly 50 people took part in the New Hampshire hikes for 2012. Most of them hiked a little over 2.5 miles.
