First Baptist Church Eustace burns, officials investigating
EUSTACE, Texas (KETK) – The First Baptist Church in Eustace had their attic and roof damaged on Thursday after the building caught fire.

Payne Springs Fire Rescue said that they responded to assist the Eustace Fire Department at 2:24 p.m. Eustace Engine 1 was at the scene and was fighting the fire from the inside of the church.
“Last night, our church building was hit with a tragedy of damage to the Sanctuary. We appreciate your prayers and the coming together of our community as we navigate through this challenge.”

The fire was eventually brought under control and firefighters managed to contain the damage to the roof and the sanctuary.

No injuries were reported and the Henderson County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. PSFR, Gun Barrel City Fire Department, Mabank Fire Department, Athens Fire Department, Trinidad Fire Department, UT Health EMS, Eustace Fire Department, Eustace Police Department and Eustace ISD PD all responded to the scene.

The church said that they’re still making plans for Sunday and that there will be no livestream of any Sunday service but it might be recorded and posted later.
