Before 7 p.m., firefighters and medics were dispatched to a Holiday Inn Express & Suites at 5612 Merily Way on reports of a fire.

When the first crews arrived, they noticed light smoke. Crews entered the hotel and found one of the dryers on fire, Fraley said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and then spent time working to get the smoke out of the building.

It is not clear how the dryer caught on fire or how much damage it caused.

Employees at the hotel told News Center 7 Malik Patterson that people will be able to return to their rooms tonight.
