Firefighters battle house fire in downtown Topeka

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Topeka firefighters are combating a house fire in the downtown area Monday morning.

City spokeswoman Rosie Nichols says the fire was reported just before 10 a.m. on April 8 for a home in the 500 block of SW Clay Street. Firefighters arriving at the scene found smoke and fire coming from the rear of the home.

Firefighters are still on scene as of 10:40 a.m. to control the fire and search the home. More information will be added here as it becomes available.
