Firefighters battle heavy flames at Dayton apartment building
May 21—Heavy flames were reported at a vacant apartment building in Dayton early Tuesday morning.
Dayton firefighters were dispatched at 3:11 a.m. to a three-story apartment building in the 400 block of North Cherrywood Avenue, off Radio Road near Smithville in east Dayton.
The first crew arrived within five minutes and found heavy flames throughout the building, said Dayton Assistant Fire Chief Brad French.
Firefighters used several hose lines and an aerial ladder stream to control the fire.
One section of the building had significant structural damage and is mostly collapsed, French said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
The fire department is asking anyone with information on the fire to call the Dayton Fire Department Fire Investigations Unit at 937-333-TIPS (8477).
