Firefighter injured in Norfolk fire, 5 residents displaced

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — One firefighter suffered minor injuries following a fire to a two-story home on Marshall Avenue Monday evening.

Norfolk Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief M. Scott Murphy said the fire started at the rear of the house in the 700 block of Marshall Avenue and was on both floors.

Smoke detectors alerted residents, and there were five people in the residence that were evacuated safely and are displaced.

The Red Cross is helping the occupants.
