Fire spreads to 3 houses in central Las Vegas valley neighborhood

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded to several reports of a fire in a central Las Vegas valley neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

When crews arrived around 2 a.m. at the area of Valley View Boulevard and Sahara Avenue, they saw that the fire spread to two other houses, resulting in it being upgraded to a two-alarm fire.

It was a rude awakening for resident Wini Lau who was rushed out by firefighters with her, now. soot-covered dog, Mini.

“I was in deep sleep and then suddenly I heard two bomb sounds outside and when I looked out the window, there were all these flames outside,” she recounted.

After a 10-minute battle, crews gave the all-clear just before 2:30 a.m.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue staff explained the fire damaged the first house’s garage and its door.

For Lau, the damage included a ruined car, blackened bits of roof, melted lights, and scorched trees.

While fire crews investigated the fire, Lau speculated that the wind fanned the flames.

“Last night, there were very strong winds. That’s why they blew the flames over this side and our tree in the front is tall so that is why they caught flame,” Lau said.

Lau and her family are still assessing the cost of the damage. The cause of the fire and its rapid spread is still under investigation

No injuries were reported. Fire officials have not yet determined the cost of the destruction.
