Fire officials: Battery-operated scrubber starts fire inside Prince William County apartment, displaces 3

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Two adults and one child were displaced after a fire broke out inside an apartment in Prince William County.

Crews from the Prince William County Fire and Rescue System responded to a fire Monday night at the Dale Forest Apartments on Wilderness Lane.

There, crews saw light smoke in the building. Firefighters found the fire inside an apartment unit and extinguished it.

There were no injuries reported, but one apartment unit was declared unsafe to occupy.

The Fire Marshal’s Office said a battery-operated scrubber started the fire because it ignited nearby combustibles.
