Fires at vacant Bakersfield buildings continue as cause of frustration

Video from the scene shows firefighters working to put out the home that was severely damaged. Kern County fire officials said the home had multiple ceiling collapses, prompting a delicate response to extinguish the flames.

Firefighters eventually gained control of the fire, but found one person dead inside the home’s living room. No one else was found inside and no other injuries were reported. The Kern County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim at a later time.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known and is under investigation.
