Fire damages New London convenience store

Oct. 1—NEW LONDON — Firefighters extinguished a blaze inside the Bestway convenience store at 423 Williams St. Sunday morning.

At approximately 9:54 a.m. firefighters were dispatched after receiving a report of a building on fire.

According to Battalion Chief Mark Waters, firefighters arrived at the convenience store within three minutes and were met with heavy smoke and fire. They used two hoses to extinguish the fire in the rear of the store in about 15 minutes.

There were no injuries and the city Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
