Fire damages apartment complex on W. Palmetto Street in Florence

FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) — First responders in Florence have cleared a fire that occurred at an apartment complex Friday afternoon on W. Palmetto Street.

Fire officials said the fire started at about 3:32 pm Friday and when they arrived on scene found fire coming from the back of the apartment complex.

The Florence fire and police department arrived on scene to find a two-story structure with smoke showing from the right side.

Fire officials said they conducted searches on both floors to make sure no was trapped.

Florence firefighters had the fire under control one hour after arriving on scene and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire has been ruled undetermined.

The Florence Fire Department said they responded three engine companies, a ladder company, and a command officer. Also, Florence Police Department and Florence County EMS were on scene.
