Fire crews working to contain brush fire that burned 373 acres north of Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County firefighters are working to contain a brush fire Friday morning east of Highway 65 north of Bakersfield that has scorched over 370 acres.

Firefighters from multiple agencies were called to an area north of Sherwood Avenue east of Highway 65 for reports of grass and brush on fire at around 10:15 a.m. Kern County Fire officials said the fire has burned approximately 372 acres and is 20% contained. No homes were under threat, Kern County Fire Public Information Officer Jonathan Drucker said.

An evacuation warning was temporarily put in place for nearby areas, but it has been lifted.

Multiple fire engines and firefighting aircraft have been called as part of the response.

Bakersfield and Kern County firefighters were busy Thursday responding to multiple brush fires in the area.
