Gas station burns to ground at Poplar and Highland

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An “accidental electrical” fire left a gas station at the intersection of South Highland and Poplar Avenue burned to the ground on Monday.

According to the Memphis Fire Department, they responded to the fire at the Exxon Hop-In gas station at 1:54 p.m. MFD says the fire was under control nearly an hour later at 2:42 p.m.

There were no reported injuries.

MFD says there was a total of $750,000 worth of damages each for the building and contents inside.
